Model Answer 1:

These days, many opine that subjects like art, sports, and music should be replaced with more technology-related subjects. I disagree with this opinion as I believe that while it is important for students to be proficient in technology, it should not come at the expense of the arts and sports.

To begin with, arts and sports are important for a well-rounded education. These subjects promote creativity, self-expression, and teamwork, all of which are essential for personal growth and development. Additionally, students who participate in these subjects often have better mental health and academic performance. For example, studies have shown that students who participate in music programs have higher math and reading scores and are more likely to graduate from high school.

Moreover, arts and sports are not only forms of entertainment but are also crucial for preserving cultural heritage and promoting social cohesion. Art and music, in particular, are integral components of many cultures, serving as conduits for expressing unique identities and traditions. For example, the vibrant and rhythmic beats of traditional African drumming have been passed down through generations, carrying the stories and history of communities. These art forms play an important role in preserving traditions and promoting diversity, fostering a sense of belonging and shared identity among community members. Similarly, sports events, whether traditional games or modern competitions, bring people together, transcending societal divides.

In conclusion, while technology-related subjects are important in the modern world, they should not come at the expense of the arts and sports. All of these subjects are important for a well-rounded education, personal growth and development, preserving cultural heritage and promoting social cohesion. Therefore, schools should strive to maintain a balanced curriculum that includes all of these subjects.

Sample Answer 2:

Whether traditional arts and crafts subjects should be replaced by modern technology lessons is a matter of great debate, and many opine to include technology-related subjects while dropping traditional subjects. I disagree with this suggestion as I believe that a combination of both should be offered to the students.

To begin with, traditional subjects should be retained as part of the school curriculum as they have great value for the students. School education is not merely a process to ensure a future job. This is rather a broader aspect, and to build an enlightened future generation, we need cultural and arts-related subjects as much as we need technical ones.

Moreover, both technology and traditional subjects can be taught side by side to the school learners. One should not come at the expense of another. While technology-related subjects are important to ensure better learning for students and better job prospects in the future, traditional subjects help them navigate and appreciate their lives. From a more practical point of view, both technical and traditional knowledge is essential in life, and this is why both should be taught at school.

Finally, I believe that the school curriculum should change from time to time to make it more suitable for the learners and changing societal perspective. This, however, does not mean that we should drop cultural and art-related subjects altogether from our schools. While the place for new subjects should be made, old and important subjects should also be part of the national curriculum.

In conclusion, the school curriculum is a sensitive issue, and that should be very carefully planned. Modern subjects should be introduced, no doubt, but not at the expense of traditional subjects. To bring the best result, the school authority should retain important traditional subjects while also introducing technology-related subjects.

Subjects such as Art, Sport and Music are being dropped from the school curriculum for subjects such as Information Technology. Many students suffer as a result of these changes.

To what extent would you support or reject the idea of moving these subjects from the school curriculum?

Essay:
Some institutions have modified their curriculum and given more importance to technical subjects instead of traditional subjects like Arts, Music, and Sports, which has led to many students' sufferings. I completely disagree with the idea of removing these important subjects just to emphasize technology, and I will elaborate on my viewpoints in the below paragraphs.

To begin with, all students cannot cope up with technical things. This is because some have an interest in computers and others feel more passionate about music, drama, reading, acting, singing and so on. Also, involving students in extracurricular activities helps them increase their concentration levels, which in turn, helps them to excel academically. For instance, a child with interests in history, drama, arts may find those skills useful when deciding on a career.

Secondly, children with traditional backgrounds and passions for arts, music and history have ample opportunities to build a carer compared to students with only technical qualifications. Additionally, including these subjects such as Arts, Music, and Sports can prove beneficial for students, in the long run. Sports help them remain fit and adopt a positive lifestyle. Furthermore, recreational activities hold more importance in some educational institutions and workplaces which expands the possibilities for students to get entrance into a reputed college. To exemplify, in India, many celebrities have studied at renowned universities, and currently, they are well-known in society.

To conclude, I disagree with the plan of taking out extracurricular subjects from the curriculum as this might help students improve mental state and overall personality development. Besides, this provides them with a lot of good opportunities in the future.
