Model Answer 1:
Who doesn’t like nice weather? I think that we all do, except, of course, we just do not get the opportunity to enjoy such nice or perfect weather that often. But, today, I would like to talk about a day when I thought the weather was impeccable. Thank you for this great cue card topic.

Now, before I go to describe my version of a “perfect weather”, it is important to understand that different people have different ideas about “perfect” weather, depending on where one is born or grows up. So, anyway, talking about a day when I thought the weather was just too excellent, I experienced such a perfect day about a few months ago when I decided to take a walk outside of my home on a fine summer evening.

By that time, the sun had died down and there was almost no moisture in the air but certainly enough to smell the soil around me. The temperature was so pleasant that I almost wanted to take my shirt off to offer my skin, which remains almost always covered except when I am taking a shower, the taste of a perfect temperature. A very gentle breeze was also blowing past my ears to offer me an even more “fresh” feeling around me. In fact, it felt so fresh around me that for a minute, I actually thought that I would just take my shoes and socks off and sit on the fresh-looking, green grass lying nicely on the side of the road, in order to feel the mother nature around me more closely, but decided against it and instead just kept walking as long as I could.

Anyway, I thought the weather was perfect on that day, mainly because it made me feel very alive and energetic. In fact, I probably had walked for almost 2 hours and yet never felt a hint of tiredness in me. It felt perfect also because the nature around me on that day was so fresh and inviting.

Sample Answer 3:
Days just before winter are, in my opinion, perfect for visiting beaches in Florida. The weather is sunny but not too hot, and the sky is often dotted with light, fluffy clouds. It was on such a beautiful day last month that I visited Clearwater Beach and had a truly memorable experience.

Clearwater Beach is located on Florida’s west-central coast and is known for its stunning white sandy shoreline. The area is a mix of residential spaces and resorts, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The beach stretches for about four kilometres, and the nearby harbour is typically busy with watercrafts and tour boats. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes catering to visitors. Tourists often take part in various activities such as parasailing, jet skiing, boating, fishing, and even golfing. On that particular day, the beach was lively and full of people enjoying the great weather.

This beach is frequently rated as one of the best in the United States, and the nearby resorts are known for their exceptional service. Since the weather was perfectly sunny, I finally decided to take a long-awaited trip. I had been planning a day out at Clearwater Beach for quite some time but couldn't make it happen earlier due to classes and exams. Once my exams were over, I finally had the time to unwind and chose to visit the beach alone. Had the weather not been so pleasant, I might have postponed the trip again.

After finishing breakfast that morning, I set out on foot for the beach, which is just a 15-minute walk from my home. I didn’t even bother wearing shoes since I had recently misplaced them—I simply went barefoot, which actually made the walk even more refreshing. Upon arrival, I picked a spot to set up a beach umbrella and spent some time strolling along the shoreline. The sand was slightly wet from the waves, making it comfortable to walk on.

One of the highlights of the day was taking a boat tour. I also visited the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which was an amazing experience. I had been there before with my dad, but this was my first solo visit. I initially thought about trying water skiing but changed my mind due to the long waiting queue. Just before noon, I spent about half an hour swimming and even played in the water with a few kids nearby. It felt joyful and carefree.

Florida weather can often be unpredictable. Although October is usually marked by rain due to the subtropical climate, this time, fall had been delayed. I was lucky to enjoy one of the rare sunny days during this transition period. Since my college was closed for three days, it was the perfect opportunity to go out and relax. By the end of the day, I felt completely refreshed and grateful for having made the most of such perfect weather.

Sample Answer 4:
Thank you very much for this candidate task card and the opportunity to let me talk about a day when the weather was just perfect.

It would be around 4 to 5 months ago and I was supposed to meet my friends on our college campus in the morning. This was a weekend and we planned to visit a local park and then play cricket on our college playground. The wind was chilly the previous night and that is why I took a jacket with me. The sun, however, unlike the past few days, was shining brightly and the sky was clear and blue. Just after I reached the college campus, I found that my friends were already there. Together we walked to the park and spent an hour there.

In fact, this was our favourite park and we often visited it during our college days. The sweet and gentle breeze in the park was quite comfortable. I checked the temperature on my smartphone and it showed that the temperature was 17 degrees Celsius. The weather forecast said that the weather on this day would be quite comfortable and it would be a sunny day. Though weather forecasts are often proven wrong, this was not the case on this day! The slight possibility of fog on the weather forecast was also true but not before 11.00 pm at night.

After we left the park, we ate burgers at a local fast-food restaurant and brought balls, stamps, bats and other equipment from a friend's house to play cricket. We played cricket for approximately 2 hours and I bowled for more than 7-8 overs. The humidity was so good that even after we played for a long, we were not perspiring. The wind did not bother with playing at all. What could we expect more than that?  I went home at around 2.30 pm and was tired. After I took a shower, I slept for a while and went out for a walk with my mother in the evening.

The mild temperature, the sunshine, the soothing humidity, the gentle breeze, and the season made it a perfect day to hang out with friends, play outdoor games and take a walk in the evening. I was outside for the most part of the day and it was neither cold nor too hot. The previous few weeks were almost freezing cold and we hardly saw the sun during this time. However, the day I am talking about had been an exceptionally bright and sunny day with a clear blue sky and a gentle wind. This was just the perfect weather everyone in our town could wish for!

Part 3: Details Discussion

Discussion topic: Types of weather:

Q. What types of weather do people in your country dislike most? Why is that?
Answer: In England, it rains all the time and it's really cold here on such days. I think that most people hate when it's raining and windy at the same time because apart from the fact that they can't see anything and want to move forward, the pressure of the wind makes them go backwards. Something else that really gets me on my nerves is that my clothes get wet and I can't use my umbrella because of the wind.

Tip: You can also say that you don't like hot weather or even the snow. Just think of the weather in your country and mention which is the worst one for you.

Q. What jobs can be affected by different weather conditions? Why?
Answer: It seems to me that different weather conditions can affect different occupations. Builders and farmers are negatively affected if it rains heavily.  For example, if the weather is rainy, people who work outside cannot work properly. Pilots and ice-cream sellers are two other professions that are affected by bad weather as well. In the first case, rain, snow and wind have a great impact on schedules while for the ice-cream sellers, the volume of sales and the whole business depends on the season and weather.

Q. Are there any important festivals in your country that celebrate a season or type of weather?
Answer: I cannot recall such festivals or celebrations in my country. However, I am certain in many countries this is quite a common trend to celebrate different weathers and seasons. For instance, the first day of the year, the Rainy season, Autumn and Spring are often celebrated in India and Bangladesh. If we look back at our history, our ancestors mostly celebrated different festivals which were based on different seasons and weathers.

Tip: Think of different kinds of festivals in your own country and mention a few of them and how they are celebrated.

If there is no such festival in your country, simply state that these types of festivals are not celebrated in your country. Just remember, if the answer is negative, don't be upset that you said very few words. As mentioned, not all of your answers can be extended.

Discussion topic: Weather forecasts:

Q. How important do you think it is for everyone to check what the next day’s weather will be? Why?
Answer: It's very necessary to know the weather forecast because people should know the type of clothes they should put on. For example, if it's going to rain, they'll wear boots, a jacket and of course, take an umbrella with them. In addition, it's important for the means of transport they are going to use, for instance, if they want to go to work by car, bus or on foot. Finally, if they have any kind of plans they should be informed about the weather conditions because their plans can be ruined by bad weather. So I would say people's activity, dress and type of vehicles they will take depends on weather conditions and that is why they should always check the next day's weather. From my experience, I can say that people who do not do that often suffer and regret a lot.

Q. What is the best way to get accurate information about the weather?
Answer: I would say that watching the weather forecast on TV or the internet is the best way to be informed about the weather conditions. But, we should be very careful because the internet can provide inaccurate information so we must be sure that the site we access is reliable. Apart from that cross-checking different TV channels and websites is another good idea to get more accurate weather forecasting.

Q. How easy or difficult is it to predict the weather in your country? Why is that?
Answer: It's really difficult to predict accurate weather conditions in my country because the weather in England fluctuates a lot. For example, a few days ago when I woke up at 9 am, the sun was shining and ten minutes later it started raining heavily. Two hours later the wind was blowing and for the rest of the day, the weather was like that. The only thing that is standard is the low temperature in the winter. The weather forecast is thus often quite tough and unpredictable in England.

Tip: Talk about the weather conditions and percentages of the accurate weather forecast in your country. In many countries, this is really predictable. For example, in Greece the winter is cold and the summer is really hot. In some other countries, it's totally unpredictable. Just analyse it as much as you can and speak accordingly.
