Some people think that spending a lot on holding wedding parties, birthday parties and other celebrations is just a waste of money.  Others, however, think that these are necessary for individuals and the society. 

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

Model Essay 1:
In the current world, most of the people like to celebrate any special occasion by inviting a lot of people. The discussion that throwing too much money to hold parties like birthday, marriage or any other special event is a debatable one, with strong logics provided by the supporters of both the views.

A few argue that the special events need to be celebrated grandly, as it happens only a few times in a lifetime. For instance, marriage is considered to occur once in a lifetime and the people want to have the memory of that event until their last breath. This is possible only when the location is well decorated and all of the friends and the neighbours are invited. By spending limited money, it is almost impossible to achieve something special which will be remembered forever. Thus it is obvious, why some people incline towards this point of view.

On the other hand, some people believe that it is not right to spend a huge amount money on personal celebrations as there are a lot of people across the globe under starvation. For example, in most of the African countries, many people do not even have food to eat for a single meal a day. In case, the money spent on celebration can be sent to the people who are really in need, definitely, a lot of life can be saved. Hence, it is clear why a few individuals refute with high spending parties.

Considering the memories of special occasions as well as starvation, spending much money for parties has been supported and refuted by many. Even though memories of some special events are important, saving human life from starvation is more important. Hence, in my opinion, it is necessary to cut down the spending on parties and spend that money for the poor people’s food.

We live in a world where people have different perspectives on different issues, just like how to celebrate a special event – may it be a wedding or a birthday party. Some spend a large amount of money as they believe that these kinds of events are rare and should be celebrated grandly, while others argue that it is a wastage of money. This essay will examine both views and will provide a logical conclusion.

Some people argue that any celebration is incomplete without grand functions. Moreover, this has become a societal norm to organize big events by spending an astronomical amount of money to impress friends and families. Reserving large venues with multiple functions and decorations are just a few common ways. Indians, for instance, are famous for Big Indian fat weddings across the world for spending a humongous portion of their wealth on these celebrations.

On the contrary, people also have reasons to believe that spending such money is completely illogical and preposterous. These people think that if the money is invested in building assets, then it can be utilized for meeting long-term goals and in the unexpected events. Furthermore, the investment will grow multifold if invested properly and can yield an extra income to support the new family.

To conclude, in my opinion, although celebrating an occasion in quintessential part of happiness in one’s life, however, it should be spent wisely so that people should be able to meet any contingencies in their life.

The modern world has made people more materialistic, and people spend tons of money on occasions like birthdays and wedding celebrations. For some people they like to spend, whether they can afford to or not, to be the talk of the town, while on the other hand, others are more practical and realize that the money should be saved for the future. In this essay, I am going to discuss the different points of view from both sides.

The big spenders are aiming to have the perfect event, whether it is on birthdays or weddings, as they are living or getting married only once in a lifetime. So planning a gigantic celebration from choosing a lavishing grand venue hall to the decoration inside to create what is called “The Perfect Day” or “The Event of the Year” that will make people talk about for a very long time. However, some people think that spending too much on extravagant celebrations is nothing but a waste of money and a show off in front of the people and that it could be saved for other important things like buying a house for instance.

Also, some people do not realize that when they are big spenders on huge occasions, they do not know how many hours of work it gets to accomplish. On a personal experience on what I have seen on social media, it took a work of 10 hours to get the ballroom done and for just a 3 hours’ celebration, for me that kind of party is a waste of money despite the beauty of the hall in the end.

In the end, and in my own personal opinion, you can be humble on your occasion and create a memorable event without going overboard and save the money for more useful things.

This essay examines both views and comes to a rational conclusion.By spending a large amount of money many will be able to fulfil their dream wedding or dream birthday party and those events become the part of their sweet memory for many. By having the best venue, decorations, delectable food and many guests, the event will be happy and cheerful. People who believe in grand celebrations want to share their happiness to many of their family members, relatives and friends. While some of them often want to show off, many of them genuinely enjoy the celebrations. On the other hand, there are those who prefer to have a simple celebration, maybe spend the event with a solemn dinner with the closest family members and friends and still have the best memory ever. Some of these people think that there are other things worth spending the money in like an educational plan for their future children. Often they cannot fathom the fact that there are so many others that cannot even afford to have a single meal in a day and there they are spending extravagantly on a one-time event like a wedding. Whatever reasons we have for our celebration of special events, I believe that we deserve to have it as long as we are not spending beyond our means and humanity still lies in us so that we can still consider those who cannot afford, for as what the saying goes, happiness is best felt when we share it to those who are underprivileged .'
