Sample Answer:
The figures illustrate the number of male and female students who attended four different evening courses at an adult education institution in 2009, and proportions of the attendances based on age.
It is clear that there were more women than men in the drama, painting and languages classes, while in sculpture class men participants outnumbered the women. It can also be seen that the majority of the students were the senior people (aged 50 years and above), while the lowest was those whose aged below 20 years. It is noticed that in the language class, the number of female students had reached 40 people, which was twice as the population of the males. In the painting and drama class, populations of men’s students were accounted for around 25 and 10 people, which were lower than the women’s figure which stood at 30 and 20 people. As for the sculpture class, the number of men participants reached 10 people, while the women’s figure was halved of the men’s.
Based on the age group, it is obvious that the highest proportion of the participants were the senior age people, accounted for approximately 42%. It was then followed by the figures of two middle age group (40-49 years and 30-39 years old) which stood at 26% and 16%. As for those who were between 20 and 29 years and below 20 years, their proportions were around 11% and 5% each respectively.

Turning back to the first bar graph, men and women attended four different courses. Among them, most of the women attended language courses. Which was 40. Likewise, most of the men attended painting courses. Which was 25. And then, the least attended course of men and women were sculpture which was 10 and 5 respectively.
The second pie chart shows six different age groups of people who attended the four different evening courses namely- drama, painting, sculpture, and language. 42% over 50 or over attended these courses. The least attended courses age group was under 20 which was just 5%.
Overall, most of the men were interested to attend painting courses. Likewise, most of the women were interested in language classes. The highest percentage course attended age group was 50 or over and the lowest percentage under 20 age group.
The bar graph illustrates the number of people, from both genders, who attended different evening courses (Drama, Painting, Sculpture, and Language) in 2009 at an adult education centre, while the second graph, the pie chart, gives the proportion of these participants based on their age group.
As an overall trend, more women took those evening courses than their male counterparts. Sculpture course was least popular but more men took this course than women. In addition to that, we can observe that the highest ratio of these participants was in their fifties or over.
Starting with the bar graph, the number of females who got enrolled in both Drama and Language courses were respectively 20 and 40, and it was twice the number of males who attended the same courses. That trend changed in Sculpture course, as 10 men attended the course compared with only 5 women.
In the pie graph, we can notice that 42% of the participant are 50 years old or over, which was the highest percentage among other age groups. In contrast, only 5% of people who are under 20 years old attended such evening courses at that centre.
