Model Answer 1: [Agreement]
In recent years, there has been a growing concern about the exploitation of animals for human benefit. There are individuals who contend that animals should not be utilized for human benefit unless it can be proven that they are not subjected to any form of suffering. In my opinion, I agree with this statement, and believe that we should make every effort to ensure that animals are not subjected to unnecessary suffering.
Firstly, animals have the ability to experience pain and suffering, and it is our moral responsibility to ensure that we do not cause them any unnecessary harm. The use of animals in scientific research, entertainment, and agriculture industries, for example, can result in the mistreatment and exploitation of these creatures. It is important to ensure that animals are not subjected to cruel treatment and that their well-being is taken into account.
Secondly, there are now numerous alternatives to animal testing and exploitation that can be just as effective, if not more so. In the field of scientific research, for example, computer simulations and other non-animal methods can be used to test the safety and efficacy of drugs and other products. These alternatives are not only more humane but also more cost-effective and often produce more accurate results. Similarly, in the cosmetics industry, animal testing has been a common practice for many years, leading to the mistreatment and exploitation of countless animals. However, with the advancement of technology, alternative testing methods have been developed, such as 3D skin models and computer simulations, which are just as effective and do not require the use of animals.
However, there are some situations where the use of animals may be necessary, such as in cases where human lives are at risk or where there are no alternatives available. For example, in medical emergencies, animal testing may be necessary to develop life-saving treatments.
In conclusion, while there may be situations where the use of animals is necessary, we must ensure that we do not exploit them unnecessarily or subject them to suffering. We should strive to find alternatives to animal testing and exploitation wherever possible, and ensure that animals are treated with the respect and compassion they deserve.
[Disagreement]
There is controversy about exploiting animals for human needs like farming, lab experimenting and using them as a source of protein. Animal rights activists are trying to stop all modern and traditional activities, which involve killing animals or causing them to suffer. Traditionalists are trying to convince the community that using living creatures for men's needs is natural and cannot be avoided in everyday life. In this essay, we will explore this subject.
Activists, who defend animal rights, are telling the world that people should not use animals in any way that make those animal suffer. Moreover, they say that animals should have exactly the same rights as humans do. The reason is that people and animals are both living creatures and there should not be any difference in treating them. Many extreme vegans are refusing to eat any food of animal origin, even milk or honey. They are trying to convince people to do the same as they believe that killing animals and keeping them in captivity is not civilized.
Traditionalists disagree with the statement that humans should stop killing animals or using them to fulfil their needs. From the very beginning of human civilisation, there is a tradition and vital need to use animals as a food source and their parts in traditional crafts. Without proteins and vitamins of animal origin, the human body wouldn't receive all nutrients it needs. Moreover, testing some medicals on animals already helped to fight many diseases people suffered from.
I think people should use animals to their benefit, to some extent. I am sure, we should not cause them to suffer and die for our fun activities. Although using animals for food is natural for humans as humans are at the top of the food chain, we should make sure we do not make them suffer unnecessarily.
